Iran's executions spike: 56 put to death since March

UN human rights chief Volker Türk is alarmed by the surge in Iran's executions, with at least 56 people put to death on national security charges since 19 March. The executions include 27 cases linked to January's anti-government protests, with over 100 more at risk. Türk urged Iranian authorities to stop all executions, saying such punishment has no place in the modern world.
