Injury ends Serena Williams’ Wimbledon comeback
Serena Williams has pulled out of her first-round doubles match at Wimbledon with sister Venus, cutting short a comeback that had gripped the tournament. The 44-year-old, playing her first event since retiring in 2022, hurt her right knee during a three-set singles defeat to 20-year-old Maya Joint on Tuesday. She said she was heartbroken to miss the doubles, but hinted her return to tennis may not be over.
