Clubs handed over £87m across 11 cases, while 40 player checks brought in £13m and 17 agent enquiries collected £10m. Figures obtained by the accounting firm UHY Hacker Young show HMRC, the UK tax authority, opened 68 cases in the year to April, down from 118 before. New rules from April 2027 will also tax players' image rights as regular salary.
