Great North Run sees big increase in young runners under 25

The Great North Run has seen a significant rise in participation among younger individuals, with the proportion of runners aged 25 and under notably higher. Runners aged 25 and under now make up more than 15% of entrants, up from 8.7% in 2021. Run founder Brendan Foster noted this figure has doubled in five years, reaching about 15% from around 7% or 8%.
