Germany misses 2025 climate goal, emissions drop 0.1%.
Germany failed to meet its climate goals in 2025 after greenhouse gas emissions dropped by only 0.1%, far below expectations. Figures released by Germany's environmental protection agency indicated that approximately 649 million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent were emitted. Environment minister Carsten Schneider warned progress is too slow, particularly in transport and buildings, and urged faster adoption of renewable technologies such as electric vehicles, heat pumps and wind power.
