Four people have died after Storm Adam brought torrential rain and severe flooding to eastern Spain, including the Valencia region, Alicante, Catalonia and the Balearic Islands. Some areas saw up to 700 litres of rain per square metre in a day. Cars were swept away, rivers burst their banks and hundreds were rescued, many winched from rooftops, while thousands more were told to stay indoors.
