Free morning-after pill service used by 305,000 women

Almost 305,000 doses of the morning-after pill were given out at pharmacies in England between October 2025 and March 2026. The free service launched to make emergency contraception easier to get without a GP appointment. Dr Sue Mann, who is the NHS National Clinical Director for Women's Health, described it as a "major step forward" for women's health.
