Former World Chess Champion Kramnik Gets One-Year Ban
Public accusations can now bring disciplinary action in chess. Fide banned former world champion Vladimir Kramnik for at least one year after finding multiple ethics and disciplinary code violations linked to public cheating allegations, with another 12-month suspension held during three-year probation. Naroditsky died last October aged 29, while Kramnik said he will appeal the suspension. Fide also confirmed probation.
