Former F1 champion Jody Scheckter must pay £1.4m after losing tax appeal
The 1979 racing title winner wrongly balanced losses from his Hampshire buffalo farm against other profitable business areas between 2008 and 2010. HMRC, the UK tax office, ended a relief deal in 2019 because the 3,000-acre Laverstoke Park site kept losing money. A tribunal judge expressed regret over the ruling, noting Scheckter had altruistic motives before he closed the agricultural site in 2024.
