Fifty charities accuse prime minister Andy Burnham of ignoring the climate crisis

The prime minister ran an emergency government meeting to discuss Britain's fifth heatwave this year but only brought up disposable barbecues. Charities including Greenpeace and the Women's Institute sent him a letter on Friday demanding he links these severe droughts to global warming. They also want ministers to reject new fossil fuel drilling at the North Sea's Rosebank and Jackdaw sites.
