Families could save £540 a year if net zero is ditched

A new analysis suggests that prioritising cheap energy over a fully net zero power grid could save households about £540 annually. The report, by think tank Onward and Transira Energy, found this approach would make electricity a third cheaper by 2050. Shadow energy secretary Claire Coutinho will present these findings on Wednesday, arguing Labour's current net zero drive is too costly.
