Steve Ellis, the voice behind Love Affair's 1968 chart-topper Everlasting Love, has died aged 76. A statement posted on social media said he passed away peacefully on 30 October after complications from a chronic illness. Born in Edgware, north London, he sang the cover version between building-site shifts. The band scored three more Top 10 hits, and he later went solo, working with Paul Weller.
