On Wednesday, the European Commission put forward a proposal to unfreeze €4.2 billion in cohesion funds designated for Hungary. The €4.2 billion is part of a larger sum of €16.4 billion in frozen recovery and cohesion funds. The EU had indicated in May it would unblock the funds as Hungary's new government took steps.
