EU plans seven AI gigafactories with $11.4 billion funding as it aims to catch up with US and China

The European Union has proposed an $11.4 billion investment to establish seven AI gigafactories. The European Commission hopes this public money will attract an additional $22.8 billion in private investment. These new gigafactories are planned to be about four times more powerful than current EU data centres.
