El Niño could push 50 million more people into acute hunger by 2027
Forecasters say a strong El Niño weather system is set to add over a fifth to the millions already in severe food insecurity. The UN's World Food Programme issued a warning on Wednesday, stating that Central and South America, the Caribbean, and southern Africa are set to experience the most severe effects.
