Doctor ordered to apologise for late cancer diagnosis

A patient's doctor caused an "unreasonable delay" in spotting cancer after symptoms, leading the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (SPSO) to demand an apology. The patient, diagnosed with diabetes, had asked their GP about pancreatic cancer after continued weight loss. Sadly, the patient passed away approximately six weeks after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
