Congo's Ebola outbreak is quickly generating fresh areas lacking patient assistance, and the death toll has now passed 4,000. Over 70% of new infections are occurring among individuals not previously identified as contacts, and at least 60% of fatalities take place away from treatment facilities. North Kivu province is now the epicentre, accounting for about 40% of all new confirmed cases.
