Chernihiv loses power for 380,000 after Russian strike

Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian households faced blackouts on Saturday morning as winter's end brings no respite. A Russian attack on Saturday left 380,000 consumers in Chernihiv region without electricity. Russian forces also struck a residential building in Bohodukhiv, Kharkiv region, overnight. Ukraine's generation capacity has fallen from 33.7GW before the invasion to around 14GW as of January 2026.
