Burnham Says It's 'Only Fair' Top Contributors Settle in UK Sooner

Prime Minister Andy Burnham has backed Shabana Mahmood's settlement overhaul, saying it is "only fair" that people making the most valuable contribution can settle in the UK earlier. In a Home Office statement, he said those who abuse the system or arrive illegally will wait longer. Earlier today he told ITV it was "difficult to say" whether legal migration was too high or too low.
