Burnham Rules Out General Election in Next 12 Months

Scottish Government, CC BY 2.0, via Wikimedia Commons

Prime Minister Andy Burnham has ruled out calling a general election in the next 12 months, hours after his government's first Budget. Speaking at a London community centre, he said he was thinking about people rather than his party's prospects. Nigel Farage had claimed the Budget was aimed at an early election, while a new Ipsos poll put Labour eight points clear of the Conservatives.
