Burnham promises pragmatic North Sea oil and gas approach

Prime Minister Andy Burnham declared he would adopt a "pragmatic" strategy concerning North Sea oil and gas, recognising the energy resources present. Burnham's statement follows a discussion with Donald Trump, during which Trump asserted Burnham had indicated he intended to "open up" North Sea oil. The approach could anger some Labour MPs, as the party's 2024 manifesto ruled out new drilling licences.
