Brazil's president backs Amazon oil drilling after new find

Brazil's state-owned oil company, Petrobras, recently found hydrocarbons during exploratory drilling off the coast of Amapa state. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva called the potential oil drilling a "passport to the country's future" on Monday. Environmental groups have sued to stop exploration, arguing the process didn't properly consult local communities or assess risks.
