Blue Origin to Launch Satellite Network Rivaling Starlink
Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin announced TeraWave, a satellite communications network, to compete with Elon Musk's Starlink. Blue Origin plans to deploy 5,408 satellites starting in late 2027, targeting enterprise, government, and data center clients. TeraWave aims for speeds up to 6 terabits per second. This enters Blue Origin into a growing market also occupied by Amazon's Leo (formerly Project Kuiper), which has launched 180 satellites and plans for over 3,000. Starlink currently has roughly 9,300 satellites in orbit and 9 million users.
