Black African and Caribbean people are developing stroke risks faster than white people

Medical records show Black African individuals are twice as likely as white patients to have a stroke before being diagnosed with any underlying condition. A King's College London study tracking 8,500 adults revealed diabetes cases within this community nearly doubled between 1995 and 2024. Experts argue standard NHS health checks starting at age 40 might happen too late to protect those at highest risk.
