Birmingham hit by major flooding and lightning after weeks of drought
Heavy thunderstorms brought flooding to Birmingham after weeks of dry weather, with a yellow warning in place until 10pm on Thursday. Locals were seen unblocking drains in knee-deep water as cars became partly submerged in some areas. The Met Office warned that 20-30mm of rain could fall in an hour, with up to 75mm over 12 hours.
