BASF May Raise Offer for Evonik Takeover

Wikimedia Commons

German chemicals giant BASF could raise its rejected takeover bid for rival Evonik if talks resume, people close to BASF told Reuters. Evonik rebuffed an approach worth about €10.3 billion, or €22.15 a share, as too low and says no negotiations are under way. The RAG Foundation, Evonik's largest shareholder, was due to discuss the matter. North Rhine-Westphalia has warned that jobs must be protected.
