Australian crew rescues US patient from Antarctica in total darkness

An Australian aviation team completed a rare midwinter medical evacuation from McMurdo Station in Antarctica last Friday. Skytraders flew its Airbus A319, known as Snowbird 1, in challenging conditions, including temperatures of -43C and no sunlight. The patient was flown to Christchurch, New Zealand, and is now recovering well.
