Andy Burnham blocks rapists and child abusers from early release scheme

Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced on Monday that rapists, serious child sex offenders, and groomers will be blocked from early release plans. The government delayed the rollout from September to October to give probation staff more time and ensure stricter community monitoring. Burnham defended the decision by warning that completely halting the measures would risk a total collapse of the prison system.
