Almost 1.3 tonnes of plastic waste removed from Scilly Isles beaches

A charity removed almost 1.3 tonnes of plastic and fishing gear from nine islands during a three-week expedition. Clean Ocean Sailing's 16 Cornwall-based volunteers collected the waste, which was then taken back to Cornwall for sorting and recycling. The charity's founder, Steve Green, said funding challenges have made it hard to run the clean-up every year.
