45 million more people could go hungry because of the blockade
The World Food Programme projects 45m additional people will be pushed into acute hunger by war, taking the global total past the current record of 319m. Fertiliser shortages are striking just as planting seasons begin across Africa and Asia, where the poorest nations are most exposed. UNICEF said transport costs for aid deliveries could rise by up to 60% on some routes, meaning fewer vaccines, less food and fewer supplies reaching children who need them most.
