Why two doses?

For the MenB vaccine, two doses are needed to provide the best and most lasting protection. The first dose starts the immune response, and the second dose, given a few weeks later, boosts this response, making it stronger and more effective. This is why the story stresses getting the first dose soon to allow time for both.
