Explained in plain English

Why is the Peace Prize in Oslo?

Alfred Nobel, the Swedish inventor, stipulated in his will that the Peace Prize should be awarded by a Norwegian committee. All other Nobel Prizes – for Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature, and the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences – are awarded in Sweden. This unique arrangement reflects Nobel's vision for peace.
