Who was Harold Godwinson?

Harold Godwinson was the last Anglo-Saxon King of England, reigning for less than a year in 1066. He famously fought against William the Conqueror at the Battle of Hastings, depicted in the Bayeux Tapestry, which is currently on display. Harold's defeat marked the end of Anglo-Saxon rule and the beginning of Norman England.
