Who are the TPLF?
The Tigray People's Liberation Front, or TPLF, was the dominant political party in Ethiopia for decades until 2018. They led a coalition that overthrew a military regime in 1991. After losing power, tensions grew with the federal government, eventually leading to the Tigray conflict mentioned in the story about the US sanctions on Eritrea.
