Who is Abiy Ahmed?
Abiy Ahmed is the current Prime Minister of Ethiopia. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2019 for his work towards peace with Eritrea, but later oversaw the conflict in Tigray, where Eritrean troops were accused of involvement. His government's actions during that period led to the US sanctions on Eritrea mentioned in our main story.
