What's a solidarity payment?

Solidarity payments are a small percentage of a transfer fee that goes to clubs who helped train a player between the ages of 12 and 23. It's a way to reward youth development and ensure smaller clubs benefit when their former players, like Balde or Matanovic, move for big money later in their careers.
