Explained in plain English

What's a 'price cap'?

The energy price cap limits how much suppliers can charge for each unit of gas and electricity, and the daily standing charge. Ofgem sets it based on wholesale energy costs and other factors. It protects millions of households from sudden, excessive price hikes, though it can still rise as we're seeing now.
