Explained in plain English

What is Belgium's VAT rate?

Belgium's standard VAT rate is 21%. This is higher than the UK's standard rate of 20%, which has been in place since 2011. VAT, or Value Added Tax, is a consumption tax added to most goods and services. Governments use VAT revenue to fund public services, but increases can make everyday items more expensive for consumers.
