What is an audit?

An audit is like a thorough check-up, often by an independent expert, to make sure rules and procedures are being followed correctly. In the context of our Ryanair story, an audit might examine whether the airline's maintenance checks on aircraft windows meet safety standards, or if their response to incidents like Mr Karovic's is in line with regulations.
