Explained in plain English

How does research link things?

This study looked at lots of existing research to find a pattern. It examined 43 studies involving over 48 million people to see if there was a consistent association between H. pylori exposure and bowel cancer. Finding an association means they often occur together, but it doesn't automatically prove one causes the other.
