Explained in plain English

How do transfers work?

When a player moves between clubs, it's called a transfer. Even for a 16-year-old like Donczew, there's usually a transfer fee paid to the selling club, Cardiff City in this case, to compensate them for developing the player. The player then signs a contract with their new club, Arsenal.
