United were behind after 47 seconds, when Pablo Barrios scored from a simple ball over the top. Ademola Lookman added a second on Tuesday, shortly after defender Leny Yoro got a red card for fouling Jonathan David. After the game, Lisandro Martinez said the club's bosses hadn't backed manager Michael Carrick enough in the summer transfer window.
