How do brakes get hot?

Brakes get hot due to friction. When you press the pedal, brake pads clamp onto a spinning disc, converting the car's kinetic energy into heat. This heat slows the car down. In Formula 1, like with Lewis Hamilton's Ferrari, this process is incredibly intense, generating extreme temperatures that can cause problems if not managed correctly.
