Labour's EU Trade Plan Hits Free Movement Wall
Lower border checks could help British firms trade more easily with Europe after Brexit. Michael Ellam raised a closer trading plan in Brussels before talks planned for 13 July, but European officials rejected it because Labour won't restore free movement. Discussions still cover food standards, emissions trading and a youth mobility scheme. Officials are also discussing deals covering steel, electric vehicles and defence cooperation.
