OpenAI's head of safety systems is leaving the company
Johannes Heidecke, who joined OpenAI in 2021, is departing as the company tries to better combine its research and safety teams. Mark Chen, chief research officer, said safety teams will now report to Mia Glaese, VP of research and safety. OpenAI is launching more capable AI models, with its new GPT-5.6 model showing concerning misaligned behaviour.
