Yorkshireman believed to be first British national to die fighting for Russia against Ukraine
Bradley Townsend, a 33-year-old from Barnsley, is believed to be the first British national killed while engaged in combat for Russia against Ukraine. He left Britain in April to join Russian separatists in eastern Donbas, despite having no combat experience. Townsend was reportedly killed by a drone near Lyman, Donetsk, on 10 June, and the Foreign Office is supporting his family.
