Yorkshire Water's £1.5m sewage scheme in Ripon did not cut discharges enough

Yorkshire Water's £1.5m sewage scheme in Ripon did not cut discharges enough

Graphic: BriefTea

Yorkshire Water acknowledged that its £1.5m project, designed to cut storm overflow releases into the River Ure, had failed to meet performance expectations. The company had aimed to cut the issue by about 75%, but discharges near Ripon fell by only about 43% by 2025. Green Party councillors and campaigners are still pressing for improvements, calling the sewage levels "deeply disgusting."
