10.5% crime drop linked to new facial tech
Crime rates dropped by 10.5% in Croydon after police used new live facial recognition cameras. Metropolitan Police arrested 173 suspects during a six-month trial of the technology on the high street, from October 2025 to March 2026. This included a 36-year-old woman wanted for assault for over two decades, and others for kidnap or rape.
