Coastguard volunteers lose callout pay, towns fear impact
The decision could weaken a vital emergency service, especially as summer tourists flock to beaches. The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is ending about £11 an hour payments for callouts after a court ruled officers are workers. Coastguard rescue officers and the GMB union will meet MPs in Westminster on 1 July.
