FIA introduces fresh engine checks as 2026 regulation debate intensifies
Motorsport’s governing body, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), will roll out a revised engine testing process from June amid scrutiny over compression ratio restrictions. The move comes after paddock talk suggested Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team may have taken advantage of grey areas in the 2026 temperature measurement rules. Officials also confirmed qualifying changes, extending the final session to 13 minutes. With Cadillac joining the grid, six cars will now drop out during the earlier knockout phases.
